Can’t tell you the number of times I felt alone or “crazy” either because people told me I was crazy or because I thought I was the only one experiencing asinine treatment like being told by your female boss that she “wouldn’t send a girl [a.k.a. Me] to do a man’s job”. I was early 30’s when I was told this.

One of the themes that consistently surfaced through my research was “speaking up” so I love that you are echoing it here too. It’s a good and important reminder. Everyone’s voice is important. There are still silencing mechanisms in place but the best, boldest, brightest, and most innovative leaders create space for all voices to be heard.

My favorite is when a woman puts an idea out there and it is ignored. A man says the SAME thing 10 minutes later, and the idea is called brilliant. Can't tell you how many times this happened to me in my career, and I only remember ONE time when someone spoke up and said, "Julia just said that 10 minutes ago". This is soul crushing.
